Chace Crawford and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson carefully watched the scale while filming their upcoming movies. The 'Twelve' costars spoke to ET about shedding the pounds at the film's New York premiere.

In order to sell himself as authentic in 'Twelve,' Chace wanted to differentiate his look from the all-American poster boy he is on "Gossip Girl." He told ET, "I dropped some weight for the character. I just wanted to look unlike I do on the show."

The blonde haired and blue eyed heartthrob also commented on 50 Cent's commitment to transitioning from the airwaves to the big screen. "He's a true professional. He was getting all of his tattoos lasered off and he wants to be an actor," Chace said.

The rapper turned thesp talked about losing his muscle mass for another film, 'Things Fall Apart.' "I was on liquids for about nine weeks to achieve the transformation in that project," he revealed about his diet. "Luckily I had internet to use references from Christian Bale in '[The] Machinist,' [Robert] DeNiro in 'Raging Bull,' and Tom Hanks in 'Philadelphia.'"

It also took dedication and patience to simply get to the premiere. With President Barack Obama in town to film an appearance on ABC's "The View," NYC was on lockdown. Showing her support for "Gossip Girl" costar Chace, Michelle Trachtenberg, had quite the thrill ride en route to the red carpet. "I had a crazy New York driver that zigged and zagged and might have made a couple illegal turns, but I'm all for it. It's good," she said.

In the film, Chace plays a high school dropout from the Upper East Side who gets involved in dealing drugs to wealthy teenagers on hiatus from boarding school. A new recreational drug hits the scene and Chace's supplier, played by 50 Cent, tries to get him more involved in trading. 'Twelve' gets dealt into theaters on August 6.
