A BRISBANE doctor is poised to launch an online DIY home abortion guide featuring a controversial pill banned from public sale.

Prominent obstetrician Adrienne Freeman said her website Safe Home Abortions featured "how to" videos and a range of information and research papers extolling the virtues of abortion drug misoprostol.

The controversial website, set to be unveiled and submitted for medical peer review in October, is the latest twist in Queensland's highly emotive abortion debate.

Right-to-life groups yesterday branded the website a hazard to women.

The website's home page reads: "Plain and simple instructions are given and scientific evidence and personal practice experience are detailed.

"Pregnancies can be terminated at any gestation by administration of misoprostol."

Dr Freeman said she was inspired to launch the website because of Cairns woman Tegan Simone Leach.

Ms Leach, 20, is to face court on October 12 for allegedly attempting to procure her own miscarriage using imported misoprostol pills from Ukraine in December 2008.

She faces a maximum penalty of seven years' jail under the state's Criminal Code Act.

The case - believed to be the first time such a charge has been laid since the law was introduced more than 110 years ago - sparked heated debate in State Parliament last year.

Parliament closed a loophole in the Act that could have led to criminal charges being laid against doctors who prescribed the misoprostol drug.

Dr Freeman, a GP since 1972 and specialist since 1982, says women have the right to choose when and where to terminate a pregnancy.

She is still fighting a ruling by the Health Practitioners Tribunal last year that found her guilty of unprofessional conduct after she helped a sex worker abort a 19-week-old fetus at home in 2003.

"No matter how careful people are in their lives there will always be a need for pregnancy terminations," Dr Freeman said.

"The website simply makes already published knowledge available in one place – particularly for women in remote and regional areas, where there is nowhere for them to turn to."

Cherish Life Queensland state president Teresa Martin warned of potentially "frightening" ramifications if abortions were performed at home.

"What we really need is true and honest websites that point women in the direction of honest and true counselling to find out what they want to do and to give them options," she said.

Children By Choice spokeswoman Kate Walsh stopped short of supporting the Safe Home Abortions site but said it highlighted the "archaic" treatment of Queensland women seeking abortions.

"But serious questions need to be answered about our health and legal systems when women in Queensland are so limited in their options," she said.

There are some wounds that time will never heal.

The state of Ohio is still heated at NBA superstar, Lebron James' decision to spurn their Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team to go play with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade for the Miami Heat.

A billboard just went up in James' hometown of Akron, Ohio that reads, "Welcome Home Lebron" with a big red X over "home". The second line asks "How Does It Feel To Be A Sidekick?". No doubt referring to the fact that the Heat is D-Wade's team and King James might have to play second fiddle to him.

NewsNet5 is reporting the idea is the brainchild of the brainchild of The Omada Group, a marketing company in Akron, that paid $3,000 for the billboard, which is on Route 18 eastbound between I-71 and I-77, about two miles from James' estate in Bath. The billboard will be up for about a month.

Matthew Palumbo, one of the principals at the Omada Group, said he hopes the billboard sparks a grassroots campaign to let James know exactly where he stands in his home state since his decision to leave.

James is scheduled to return to Akron for his annual bike-a-thon charity event next weekend and is likely to pass the sign on his drive in from Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport.

The move may end up being one James' regrets. Already former players like Charles Barkley, Larry Bird and Michael Jordon have criticized the decision. Their point being, he should be trying to beat Wade instead of playing with him, creating a "super team".

HOUSTON - For Michael Green, exonerated by DNA after serving 27 years for a sexual assault he did not commit, it’s the end of a long ordeal.

But an even more difficult struggle could be just beginning.

For nearly three decades, Green’s life has fit into 40 square feet. He’s been told when to go to bed, when to wake up and when to eat.

But on Friday, all the rules changed.

“It's very seriously a chess game,” said prisoners’ advocate Ray Hill, “and you don't know how to play.”

Since 1980, Hill’s “Prison Show” has aired on KPFT radio, teaching inmates how to play the prison game.

It’s a game Hill knows well, having spent four and a half years behind bars in the early 1970’s.

“I was more afraid to get out than I had been to go in. I mean, literally I was scared to death.”

Now, Michael Green is back in the free world. But it’s not the world he left at age 18.

When Green was first arrested in 1983, President Reagan was serving his first term, M*A*S*H was still airing new episodes, and Ms. Pac-Man was state-of-the-art for video games.

Green has lived 27 years with most things chosen for him. Now, even a trip to the mall presents seemingly unlimited choices.

“It's culture shock,” exclaimed Hill. And it’s compounded by Green’s instincts, which may still be stuck in that 8X10 cell.

“The cultural norm (in prison) is to defend that space,” explained Hill. “And that's a lot of hostility that wouldn't work on an escalator at the Galleria.”

Like many ex-cons, Michael Green may find freedom more constraining than incarceration.

It’s a phenomenon Ray Hill has seen so often, it’s got him reconsidering the kind of help he provides.

“One of the things I do, Ned, is I teach people how to do time,” said Hill. “And I've been thinking for a long time that I need to start a school to teach people how to undo time. Because it's not easy.”

It can’t be easy for Michael Green. He did 27-years that were not his years to do.

Bronx, New York police just released this video footage of a man stabbing a female and her companion for no apparent reason.

Troynisha Harris, 18 is seen chilling with a 20 year old man when a guy exits a vehicle, pulls his shirt over his head, approaches the couple then stabs Troynisha in the neck. He then attacks her friend, stabbing him in the stomach.

The assailant then walks back to his car and drives off.

The 20 year old man wasn't seriously hurt, but Harris died from her wounds at a local hospital..

DALLAS - A woman who allegedly danced on the counter while her partner tried to steal cigarettes from a convenience store is behind bars thanks to tips from FOX 4 viewers.

Dallas police said they started getting calls about Theresa Hutchinson just after surveillance video from a Ross Avenue 7-Eleven robbery was shown on TV.

In the video a woman, seemingly strung out on drugs, gets on the counter and starts dancing while her partner stuffs cigarettes in a bag.

She continues dancing, trying to distract the clerk. But he grabs a stick to defend himself.

The woman jumps down and keeps dancing to keep the clerk away from her partner. When he doesn’t back down, she grabs a checkout scanner and swings.

Three minutes after they enter the store, the two robbers leave. But the clerk doesn’t let them take the bag of cigarettes. He wrestles to get it back and the pair gets away with nothing.

“We had several tips before 10 o’clock last night and more this morning that led us directly to this woman,” said Sr. Cpl. Janice Crowther.

Hutchinson is now charged with robbery and is behind bars at the Lew Sterrett jail.

Police are still looking for her partner and another man who was with her for a similar robbery at an Exxon store on Abrams Road.

America's beloved pint-sized troublemaker Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, the breakout star of MTV's hit reality show "Jersey Sh***," was arrested for disorderly conduct in her Seaside Heights roaming grounds yesterday while she was staggering around drunk, sources told The Post.

An intoxicated Snooki spent the day boozing on the New Jersey beach with cast members when her antics attracted the attention of cops.

Cameras were rolling for Season 3 of the insanely popular show -- which embraces "Guido" culture, hedonism and rock-hard abs -- for Snooki's embarrassing arrest at 3:30 p.m.

"She was drunk in public and had an argument with the officers," a source close to the cast told The Post. "This is 100 percent real, and not a set-up for the show."

She was so drunk "she couldn't stand up," E! Online reported.

The "guidette" was dressed in a tight pink leopard print tank top with the word "S***" and an even tighter miniskirt that revealed the bottom of her buttocks.

One witness said: "She was on her knees and kept falling on the beach. People were laughing and taking pictures of her before the cops arrested her."

MTV spokeswoman Emily Yeomans declined to comment.

"When our police went to deal with the situation -- not Mike 'The Situation' -- they found the need to arrest her," Seaside Heights Borough Administrator John Camera told The Star-Ledger of Newark.

Camera said the 4-foot-9 Snooki had been "bothering" people not involved with the show.

Seaside Heights police said poof-sporting Polizzi was charged with disorderly conduct and was "under the influence."

"When she got in [the station house] she got a little better, but her behavior wasn't good," a source said.

She was issued a summons and was released.

Last night Snooki dined with housemates Jenny "JWOWW" Farley, and Dina at a swanky Italian restaurant. Afterwards, the trio strolled back to their house flanked by police.

Earlier, paparazzi snapped pictures of Snooki, 22, sitting on a bench and pouring liquid into a beer bong.

19-year-old Montana Fishburne is said to be launching the tape in August through Vivid Entertainment, and it was reported by TMZ that she said “I’ve watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape.”

An all-new Michael Jackson collection featuring 10 unreleased songs will be released this November, a rep for the Jackson estate reveals. At the time of his death Jackson reportedly left hard drives filled with unheard music, much of it recorded during the King of Pop's '80s peak. Jackson's manager Frank DiLeo told RS that he estimates that Jackson's vaults contain more than 100 completed and unreleased songs, including collaborations with Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo. "There are a couple of songs we recorded for the Bad album that we had to cut that are just sensational," DiLeo said.

Every time that [Jackson] recorded, he over-recorded. He would record anywhere from 20 to 30 songs for each album," former Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola told RS last year. Any of them could have been as big a hit as the ones that came out." One of the most noteworthy tracks was a Thriller outtake titled "Don't Be Messin' Around." Other candidates include any of the reported five songs that Jackson recorded with Will.i.am.

Last year, a pair of unreleased Jackson tracks, "Another Day" and "A Place With No Name," leaked, and recently Rodney Jerkins, who co-produced Jackson's 2001 album Invincible, revealed to VladTV that he's currently working on the collection.

The album of never-before-heard Jackson songs will be the first in a 10-project, seven-year deal the Jackson estate inked with Sony Music in March 2010 — a $250 million pact that will also include reissues of Jackson's classic albums, new greatest hits sets, a DVD collection of all Michael's music videos and possibly a Cirque du Soleil show. The hybrid karaoke and dance simulator Michael Jackson: The Video Game is also expected out by the end of 2010.

NBA Rookie Of The Year Tyreke Evans had a whole of explaining to do after being arrested for reckless driving back on Memorial Day weekend for hitting speeds ranging from 120-130mph on a California Highway, but at least back then there wasnt a video to make matters worse. Well now there is.

California Highway Patrol has just released the video, and it would seem more likely that somebody high on drugs had stolen a car and took it on a wild joyride than to believe that a rising NBA star that plays for the Sacramento Kings was behind the wheel.

ESPN Films has announced a new season of their series 30 for 30, which will feature four new films, including a doc**entary on the night Tupac Shakur was shot multiple times in Las Vegas.

ESPN has tapped filmmakers like Ron Shelton, John Singleton, Steve Nash and Alex Gibney to create the Fall series of 30 for 30.

In addition to stories on sports legends like Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova (Unmatched), George M. Steinbrenner (The House of Steinbrenner) and Steve Nash (Into the Wind), the series will highlight the night Tupac Shakur was gunned down (One Night in Vegas).

One Night in Vegas will focus on the night of September 7th, 1996, the evening Tupac Shakur attended the Mike Tyson Vs. Bruce Seldon fight.

The story will delve into the friendship between Mike Tyson and Tupac Shakur, who were supposed to attend the after party together to celebrate Tyson’s first round “knockout” of Bruce Seldon.

One Night in Vegas was directed by Reggie “Rock” Bythewood (Notorious) with Mike Tyson’s full cooperation.

The documentary is slated to air on September 7, 2010, 14-years-to the date of Shakur’s shooting.

Kanye West’s six-figure Horus chain hangs low in this first image from his “Power” video. The New York Times got a sneak peek of the clip directed by artist Marco Brambilla. As Mr. West raps, the camera slowly pans out in one continuous, unedited take to reveal him surrounded by nude female attendants; some kneel before him, others wear devil horns, and some are suspended upside down from the ceiling. The Sword of Damocles hangs over the rapper’s head, while an executioner prepares to strike him with a blade.

“It’s kind of apocalyptic, in a very personal way,” Brambilla told ArtsBeat. “It’s a very exaggerated hyper-sensational version of what the song is saying.”

The video for Kanye West's new single "Power" premiers next week on MTV. That's assuming a lot of editing is done to it first.

Writer Dave Itzkoff of the New York Times, previewed an unedited version of the video and writes there is some R-Rated content in it.

Itzkoff wrote of one scene:

"As Kanye raps, the camera slowly zooms out in one continuous, unedited take to reveal him in a classical structure, surrounded by female attendants partly or entirely nude; some kneel before him on all fours, others wear devil horns and others are suspended upside down from the ceiling. The sword of Damocles hangs over Mr. West’s head, and behind him an unseen executioner is preparing to strike him with a blade."

The video was directed by Marco Brambilla who describes it as "apocalyptic, in a very personal way.” The clip has also been described as "Kanye in an orgy of decadence and destruction."

Sounds interesting to say the least.

With a five-week chart run for Recovery that shows no signs of abating and sales of 2 million just over the horizon, Eminem has been on a winning streak lately. His hit duet with Rihanna on "Love the Way You Lie" has topped charts and given Slim Shady one of the biggest non-satirical crossover pop hits of his career, but according to longtime manager Paul Rosenberg, the path to success had plenty of obstacles.

Rosenberg spoke to HITS magazine and said the title of Recovery had a very literal meaning for the MC, who has openly spoken about his struggle with prescription drug addiction. After admitting that he made his 2004 album, Encore, in the throes of drug addiction and that last year's Relapse was part of the process of flushing the drugs out of his system, Recovery was about taking a step forward.

"Em was certainly gaining his footing after not being sober for awhile," Rosenberg said. "It took him a bit to get on stable ground and figure out what he wanted to do. After almost overdosing, everything looks and sounds different to you. He was really thrust back into the game and had to adjust."

Rosenberg sidestepped a question on whether he agreed with the rapper's assessment that Encore and Relapse weren't Eminem's finest work. "With respect to Relapse, we were just excited that he was focused and recording music again, that we could get the record out there and not make the fans wait any longer," he said. "And I think we accomplished that. He's a little hard on himself. Even at his worst, Eminem is still far better than most. He wants everything he does to be received on that level of excitement, wonderment and anticipation as his first couple of albums."

Saying Em was "really" smart in realizing what went wrong with those releases, Rosenberg said his star client has a clear understanding that his audience wants to connect emotionally to his music and realized he hadn't done that recently and needed to get back into that mode. "His mission was to create songs that would accomplish that. It's just good to see that when you make something great, people are still there for it. You can take a misstep, but you can still get back on track."

As for why Marshall deviated from his previous method of working with mentor Dr. Dre on Recovery, which only features one Dre production, Rosenberg said once the original plan to do a Relapse sequel was dropped, Em realized he'd turned a musical corner and wanted to keep moving in that direction.

"When Em started working with Dre on sessions for the second record in Hawaii, he turned a corner artistically," Rosenberg explained. "And at that point, he wanted to keep moving in that new direction. So it was an evolution. ... By the time Marshall started focusing on making a new album, Dre was already working on his own stuff. So we reached out to Just Blaze first, worked on several tracks with him, and that opened the door to the other producers — Boi-1da, DJ Khalil. Those three are the guts of the record. It was a natural progression, a matter of timing."

Not surprisingly, Rosenberg said Em is very happy with how his latest album has been received and the smash sales he's racked up so far. "He's really happy with it," he said of the rapper, who has come out of his shell a bit to promote the album with some viral videos and rare TV appearances. "He put a lot of work into it. He thought it was what people would be looking for, so the reaction has been gratifying. That his fans love it is the most important thing to him. Em feels he let people down because he didn't give what he felt he needed to give them. That's what drove him to make this album."

As for "Love the Way You Lie" giving Slim Shady his biggest crossover hit since the "8 Mile" smash "Lose Yourself," Rosenberg said the tune was an attempt to reach that elusive wider audience. "Em wanted to connect with a radio audience this time," he said. "He realized the last time that it didn't make it all the way like he wanted it to. He certainly had that in mind making this album." For now, Rosenberg said, there are no plans for a major tour and Em will stick to the two co-headlining gigs he's got booked with Jay-Z in New York and Detroit and an appearance at the Epicenter Festival in Fontana, California. "We don't have anything else booked," he said. "He loves performing, but he doesn't love traveling, so we try to figure out a way to make that work. We'd like to find ways he can perform without going to different cities."

She acts, sings, and dances, and now Jennifer Lopez may be adding a new gig to her résumé. The superstar has reportedly signed on to judge America’s biggest television show.

Deadline Hollywood reports that J.Lo has inked a deal to become a judge on the tenth season of “American Idol,” replacing Ellen DeGeneres who announced her exit today. The singer-actress would serve on the judging panel with Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi. Negotiations began months ago, but a deal was not finalized until this week.

Lopez was the celebrity mentor on Latin night during the talent competition’s sixth season. She has been busy recording her next album Love?, set for release on her new home at Island Def Jam.

NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN nude photos of Angelina Jolie - and pictures taken of the film beauty during an alleged 14-hour heroin binge - appeared overnight in a US gossip magazine.

Star magazine published the photos, taken from an unauthorised biography by Andrew Morton which is due for release next month.


One photo shows Jolie with black tape over her nipples, a dog leash around her neck and a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. A black and white shot taken from behind shows her on a bed wearing just a G-string and cowboy hat. Another shows her blindfolded.

Other photos show her during a marathon heroin-smoking bender, according to the Morton book.

The risque pictures were said to be from 1999 - before Jolie became a doting mother of six children.

She has admitted to using drugs in the past, reportedly once saying, "I hate heroin because I've been fascinated with it. I'm not immune, but I won't do it now, at all."

Jolie, 35, and partner Brad Pitt, 46, are parents of three biological children - Shiloh, four, and twins Knox and Vivienne, two - plus three adopted children: Maddox, nine, Pax, six, and Zahara, five.

Before settling down with children Jolie was known for her scandalous behaviour. She attended her first wedding - to British actor Jonny Lee Miller, in 1996 - in black rubber pants and a white shirt, on which she had written the groom's name in her blood.

After their divorce in 1999 she married Billy Bob Thornton in 2000 and they famously wore each other's blood in vials around their necks. But since divorcing Thorton in 2003 and adopting Maddox in 2002 she has softened her image.

The book which features the startling photos makes a host of shocking claims about the actress' past and her relationship with Pitt.

"The photographs are a startling reminder to Angelina of a period in her life I’m sure she wants to forget, a shady piece of her history that she’s kept hidden away, even from Brad," celebrity biographer Morton, author of Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography, told Star in its cover story.

The controversy hits as Jolie tours the globe promoting her new film Salt, which centres around the quest to capture a CIA agent suspected of being a Russian spy.
